The scholarship is funded by a gift from the NRMA-ACT Road Safety Trust. The project seeks to better understand how fear of injury in a crash is influencing people?s decisions not to walk or ride a bicycle, and how this can be overcome to help governments to reach their goals in terms of sustainable transport to address both traffic congestion and chronic disease. A scholarship of $30,000 per annum, tax exempt and indexed annually, for a period of three years will be provided to the successful applicant plus $10,000 for project funds.
