UWSCollege is dedicated to providing international and Australian students with a pathway to university via English language, University Foundation Studies and diploma programs. Together, UWSCollege and the University of Western Sydney (UWS) form a unique educational partnership - offering a higher education experience that is innovative, industry-focused and highly recognised - to produce the kind of graduates that employers want by combining academic study with hands-on practical experience.
UWSCollege is wholly owned by UWS and is the preferred pathway provider to the university. UWSCollege offers English language, University Foundation Studies and diploma programs, preparing students for entry to university study in a range of disciplines.
UWSCollege has a commitment to delivering high-quality courses that begins with our skilled, dedicated and highly qualified teaching staff. Additionally, smaller class sizes make it easy for you to focus on your studies while you get to know other students and your teachers. This personal, relaxed atmosphere helps our staff meet your individual needs on a daily basis.
Like its parent institution, UWSCollege operates across a number of campuses in Greater Western Sydney. English language programs are offered at the Westmead campus, while University Foundation Studies and diploma programs are available at the Nirimba Education Precinct at Quakers Hill, Bankstown and Kingswood campuses. All campuses are easily accessible by public transport.
Studying a UWSCollege pathway greatly improves your chances of success at UWS!
The University Foundation Studies program prepares students for university study, both academically and socially, by offering units that are an introduction to the knowledge and skills needed for an undergraduate degree at UWS. This course is designed for students who need to build up a set of academic study and subject skills before undertaking a university degree.
The University Foundation Studies program offers streams in arts (for students wishing to study arts, humanities, social science, psychology, education or languages), business, computing, nursing and science (for students wishing to study science or engineering). After successfully completing a University Foundation Studies program and meeting the entry requirements, students are guaranteed entry into the first year of study in the corresponding UWS undergraduate degree*. Students can also choose to study a diploma course at the college, which leads straight into the second year of study in the corresponding UWS degree.
UWSCollege diploma programs are an alternative pathway to UWS for students who may not have qualified for direct entry or for those seeking additional support and preparation before moving on to university studies. Students who successfully complete a diploma program enter into the second year of the corresponding undergraduate degree at UWS. The following areas of study are available: arts, business and commerce, communication, construction management, design, engineering, health science, information and communications technology, science and social science.
UWSCollege also offers English language programs, taught by highly qualified Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) teachers. Courses include Communicating in English (General English), Academic English for Tertiary Studies, Advanced Academic English Skills and many more.
* Overall performance in a UWSCollege University Foundation Studies course is measured on a 10-point Grade Point Average (GPA) scale.
