This course is one of three graduate certificates in the Master of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship. It is designed for students who have a considered business idea and want to learn and gain knowledge of how to develop the business idea into a commercial or social venture. Students may enter this course directly or after completing the Graduate Certificate in Commercialisation. Students complete the core online subjects and complete subjects related to leadership and people management and corporate structures and IP before taking an experiential learning subject where they work on another entrepreneurial venture to apply their skills. Students with business ideas who want to further develop their entrepreneurial skills and knowledge benefit from studying this course. Students have access to non-award-based seminars and events with entrepreneurs and other relevant industry practitioners which provide reality and rigour to supplement their classroom study.

Structure

The course comprises four core online subjects, totalling 12 credit points, and three subjects, totalling 24 credit points. Students who have completed the core online subjects only have to complete three subjects (24 credit points). The course may be completed in one session of full-time study. This course is normally offered in Spring session each year.

Standard entry requirements

  • A UTS recognised bachelor's degree, or an equivalent or higher qualification
  • Or submitted other evidence of general and professional qualifications that demonstrates potential to pursue graduate studies. Applicants without a degree require eight years' full-time relevant work experience and evidence of a general capacity to undertake tertiary education. The English proficiency requirement for local applicants with international qualifications is: Academic IELTS: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0
  • Or TOEFL: paper based: 550-583 overall with TWE of 4.5, internet based: 79-93 overall with a writing score of 21
  • Or AE5: Pass
  • Or PTE: 58-64
  • Or CAE: 176-184.
