Studying law in conjunction with another discipline gives students the potential to take an interdisciplinary approach in both their studies and in their future employment. A graduate of this course will take both a legal and commercial approach to situations. The program provides students with an understanding of how law impacts and regulates the world of business (e.g. in the areas of professional accounting, human resource management and agribusiness).

Structure

240 credit points (equivalent to 40 standard units) comprising 96 credit points toward the Bachelor of Business component, and 144 credit points toward the Bachelor of Laws component. Students must complete one Business Major and core business units, as well as core law units, and a selection of law listed or honours units.

Standard entry requirements

  • Year 12 or equivalent
  • Assumed knowledge: any 2 units in English. Recommended studies: Mathematics for some units in the economics, finance and quantitative areas.

Recognition

The Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree is accredited by the Legal Practitioners Admission Board of NSW. Upon completion of the LLB, graduates may complete a period of practical legal training and be qualified to apply for admission as an Australian Lawyer. After admission students are then eligible to apply for a practising certificate as a solicitor from the Law Society of NSW or undertake further studies to obtain a practising certificate as a barrister from the Bar Association of NSW.

Study pathways

Students who successfully complete this course may be eligible to continue to an Honours year. An exit pathway is available for eligible students.
