Bachelor of Audiometry

This program aims to provide both academic knowledge and practical training which will equip students with the necessary skills and expertise to pursue a career in Audiometry. It is articulated with the Diploma of Audiometry and is the only one of its kind in Australia at the undergraduate level. Students gain vocational training with TAFE and theoretical knowledge in relevant academic areas with UNE. Graduates will possess the academic knowledge and clinical skills required for a comprehensive career in audiometry, and with further training for a profession in audiology. There is also the option of including an accredited major in psychology which would also allow for further training in psychology.

Structure

144 credit points (equivalent to 24 standard units) including a major, and a combination of listed and elective units. 36 credit points are granted as block advanced standing in accordance with Entry Requirements.

Standard entry requirements

  • Diploma in Audiometry or Diploma in Hearing Device Prescription and Evaluation from TAFE
  • Or hold Certificate IV in Audiometric Assessment from TAFE and concurrent enrolment in the Diploma in Hearing Device Prescription and Evaluation or Diploma in Audiometry from TAFE

Study pathways

Candidates shall be granted 36 credit points of Block Advanced Standing. Students may be eligible for up to a further 60 credit points credit (advanced standing) for previously completed studies. An exit pathway is available for eligible students.
