The Associate Degree in Fashion and Textile Merchandising has been designed to help you develop the high-level business acumen and creative thinking required to succeed within the fast-paced fashion industry.In this intensive, industry-led associate degree, you will learn to research, analyse, interpret and transmit solutions to unpredictable and complex problems in the fashion and textiles industries. Building skills in teamwork, autonomy and work-readiness, you will connect theory and practice with hands-on projects in marketing, product ranging, distribution, product development, and more.As a graduate of this course, you will be able to develop, analyse and launch successful strategies for products, brands and retail, and navigate buying and merchandising practices to find your place in this global and competitive industry.
Structure
This course is designed to give you the skills and experience that industry looks for in graduates.As part of your studies, you will develop tools in self-management, problem solving, research and analysis.Year 1In first year you will explore subjects in textiles, product ranging, marketing, supply chain, merchandise mathematics, and fashion business, and apply them to an industry-based project.Year 2In second year you will proceed to an advanced level in computer-aided design, product development and merchandise planning and merchandise retail management. You will participate in The Retail Initiative, working with major Australian retailers to plan, develop and produce a capsule collection that may be sold in store.You can graduate work-ready or undertake further study in courses including the Bachelor of Fashion (Enterprise) and the Bachelor of Fashion and Textiles (Sustainable Innovation).
Standard entry requirements
You must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 or an equivalent senior secondary school qualification with a minimum average of 60% (see calculator below).

This course is accredited by the Australian Light Manufacturing and Training Advisory Board (ALMATAB).
Study pathways
Graduates of the Associate Degree in Fashion and Textile Merchandising can apply to complete one additional year of study and gain the Bachelor of Fashion (Merchandise Management).
