QUT College

Type of institution: University/Higher Education Institution
Level: Postgraduate

This course prepares students for a career in science education and produces graduates with well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills in a science discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Environmental Science and Physics). Students explore their chosen discipline by undertaking laboratory work and they can also participate in fieldwork, depending on the selected study area. This is not a stand-alone degree, but the first part of a vertical-double degree. Students will continue their studies by undertaking the Master of Teaching (Secondary) to prepare them to teach in science and mathematics education in a secondary school setting. Education and curriculum studies complement content knowledge. Professional experience placements provide the opportunity to work in real educational settings, supervised by practising professional educators.
