This course covers the key areas of knowledge required to be a registered landscape architect. With multiple modes of engagement and learning you'll benefit from hands-on design studios incorporating industry engagement and real-world scenarios to gain practical knowledge, experience and skills. Theory-based units will encourage you to explore key societal issues and discover how landscape architects can be proactive and contribute to sustainable built and natural environments.The early stages of this course explore landscape histories; plants for urban and natural systems and how to design climate responsive landscapes. You'll gain an understanding of research strategies in design and sustainable urban design, including how Indigenous culture in Australia influences landscape architectural and architectural design. Later in your degree you'll engage in studies involving planning and management of special design projects and contribute to interdisciplinary teams of built environment professionals. Throughout your course, you’ll engage in hands-on intensive studio units that explore the concept of ‘play’ in urban design spaces and involve real-world industry-directed design briefs that investigate environmental change and social justice concerns.In the final stages of this course, you will complete a thesis project that will represent a proposed intervention in the real world that could create a significant contribution to the field of landscape architecture.

  • A completed Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) (or higher award) in landscape architecture
  • Or a completed recognised overseas bachelor program in landscape architecture and an approved portfolio demonstrating core skills in landscape architecture
  • Or a completed recognised bachelor degree (or equivalent) (or higher award) in arelevant discipline such as architecture and an approved portfolio demonstrating core skills in landscape architecture.
