Standard entry requirements

  • 1.5 year program - a recognised bachelor degree (or higher qualification) in any discipline with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (on QUT's 7 point scale). 1 year program - a recognised bachelor degree in any discipline with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (on QUT's 7 point scale) and a completed recognised Graduate Certificate (or higher) in the field of Education with GPA of 4.0 (on QUT's 7 point scale)
  • Or a recognised bachelor degree in the field of education with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (on QUT's 7 point scale) plus a minimum of two years full-time (or equivalent) relevant work experience in teaching or education. Students applying on the basis of work experience must submit a detailed CV, position details and employment statements.

Recognition

Early Childhood Teaching study area: Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).

Study pathways

Applicants with a Level 8 qualification in the field of education can be awarded advanced standing for up to 48 credit points, depending on the study area A. Students may exit with the award of a Graduate Certificate in Education once they have completed 48 credit points of appropriate units.

Further information

International students may choose to study Early Years, General Studies, Leadership and Management, Inclusive Education, STEM in Education, or Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL). The School Guidance and Counselling full-time study area offers a block unit which must be completed early in the year as it is a prerequisite to the majority of units in the program.
