You will develop your academic writing skills so you can produce quality essays and reports; gather practical skills such as note-taking strategies and how to reference; learn how to conduct academic research through the library and on the internet; build your confidence speaking in an academic setting and giving presentations; and be better prepared to achieve academic success in your further studies at QUT.
Structure
You will enrol in one of three teaching sessions per year, each consisting of 10 weeks of face-to-face teaching. All assessment is completed within this time period.
Standard entry requirements
Minimum English language requirements: QC31 English for Academic Purposes (EAP) 1 with final overall score of at least 65% completed within one year of starting this course at QUT. QC34 English for Academic Purposes (EAP) 1 Standard or QC35 English for Academic Purposes (EAP) 1 Extended with 65% completed within one year of starting this course at QUT.
Study pathways
On completion of this course and meeting eligibility requirements, you may be able to progress into the following programs: EAP 3 Extended; Diploma in Health Science; University Certificate in Tertiary Preparation for both undergraduate and postgraduate study; QUT's Graduate Certificate in Communication for Business, Engineering, Health and Information Technology; EAP 3 Standard and undergraduate and postgraduate courses that require students to meet the minimum IELTS 6.5 (no sub-score below 6) English proficiency requirements.
