Graduate Diploma of Creative Arts Therapies

Murdoch University

Type of institution: University/Higher Education Institution
Level: Postgraduate
CRICOS: 00125J

Creative Arts Therapies is a humanistic psychotherapy with a person-centred framework which includes the use of expressive arts to enhance the therapeutic process. This therapeutic method is gaining momentum among existing practitioners and will lead students in developing a foundation in both theoretical knowledge and elementary hands-on art therapy and counselling skills. While this course has proven beneficial for counsellors to work with clients to express themselves, the course is also of interest to teachers, social workers, chaplains, psychologists, youth workers and others who are interested in increasing the expressive abilities and mental wellbeing of their clients. As the only university based creative arts therapies program offered in WA, and accredited by the Australian Counselling Association (ACA), the course will be highly experiential and run in new purpose-build classroom spaces at our Mandurah Campus with the option of most units to be completed at either Perth or Mandurah Campuses.

Standard entry requirements

Completion of a bachelor degree (AQF Level 7) or equivalent in any discipline. The admission process includes both application and interview.
