The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) is also available in a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Masters vertical double pathway. This is an accelerated program for high-achieving students to be on track to earn, in just 5 years, both a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and an expert masters degree in Advanced Engineering. You will have an outstanding practical and theoretical preparation for a career in engineering, with a rich selection of specialist electives and strong links to industry. The expert masters degree will extend your knowledge and provide you with advanced leadership and complex problem solving skills.

Structure

Students undertake the Common First year before specialising in their chosen discipline from level 2. After completing three years of the Bachelor of Engineering course students will take Masters level units in their fourth year year, and then complete the remainder of those units in fifth year. All students need to complete 420 hours of continuous professional development in order to graduate.

Standard entry requirements

  • All applicants must satisfy the following prerequisites or their equivalents: VCE English Units 3 & 4: a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or 25 in any other English, plus VCE Mathematics Units 3 & 4: a study score of at least 25 in Mathematical Methods (any) or Specialist mathematics
  • Plus Units 3 & 4: a study score of at least 25 in VCE Chemistry or Physics. IB English at least 4 in English SL or 3 in English HL or 5 in English B SL or 4 in English B HL plus IB Mathematics, at least 4 in Mathematics SL or 3 in Mathematics HL or 3 in Further Mathematics HL plus IB Sciences at least 4 in Chemistry SL or 3 in Chemistry HL or 4 in Physics SL or 3 in Physics HL.

Study pathways

An Honours Weighted Average of 70% must be attained by the end of level 3, to use two Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) electives in 4th year to take units from your chosen master. You will graduate with a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) as a fully qualified engineer after 4 years, and will be able to cross credit the master units towards your destination master course.
