This program is aimed at graduates looking to develop their skills and specialise in the rapidly developing high-technology area of electronics. In the Master's by coursework program, La Trobe offers specialty teaching in the areas of biomedical engineering, communication and electronic systems, microelectronics, design and optical engineering. Students can choose components that best suit their chosen specialisation.
Structure
Students study current experimental practice in electronics and advanced subjects in their chosen specialisation, and complete an engineering design project. For second year, students choose either the Design Exercise path or the Major Project path after consultation with the course coordinator.

Standard entry requirements
- A four-year Bachelor of Engineering degree or an Honours degree in science in an appropriate field, or an international equivalent
- Students who do not strictly meet this requirement may be considered for admission following successful completion of the Graduate Diploma in Electronic Engineering
- NB: Meeting minimum prerequisites does not guarantee an offer of a place
- Entry into all La Trobe courses is based on competitive selection and there may be limited places available.
Study pathways
Candidates who do not meet requirements are also considered, but may be required to undertake a 1-year postgraduate diploma in electronics.
