Standard entry requirements

  • Postgraduate: Prerequisites - Course specific requirements - Specialisation - recommended: Studies in arts, social sciences, psychology, teaching, nursing or business-related areas.

  • Postgraduate: Prerequisites - Undergraduate requirements - Successful completion of an Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent).

Recognition

The Master of Social Work is accredited by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). This course starts on 6 February 2017 (Summer 2). La Trobe graduates are given first preference when applying for this program. Graduates who meet minimum requirements of a WAM of 65 per cent and relevant prerequisites will be eligible to apply. Students must obtain a National Police Check (or equivalent) and Working With Children Check before undertaking clinical professional placements. Please note that professional placements are unpaid and may be located in metropolitan or rural areas, interstate or overseas. Students may be required to do their placement outside semesters.
