This program teaches students how to establish peaceful, productive and environmentally sustainable communities. You'll explore all areas of planning, from policy and local politics to urban design and transport. It also involves field trips to a range of areas from rural Victoria to cities in Asia and Europe and the chance to get hands-on experience with project work.

Structure

Students complete 480 credit points, of which 120 credit points must be taken at each year level. Students are required to complete compulsory subjects each year, and can also choose electives each year. Professional work experience provides the opportunity to develop skills in the workplace and develop a professional network.

Standard entry requirements

VCE Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL. International students must meet the academic and English language requirements of this course. NB: Meeting minimum prerequisites does not guarantee an offer of a place. Entry into all La Trobe courses is based on competitive selection and there may be limited places available.

The Bachelor of Urban, Rural and Environmental Planning is accredited by the Planning Institute of Australia until 2021.
