Experts also predict that creative skills will be highly sought after by employers in the future. La Trobe's Bachelor of Creative Arts combines practice and theory for a well-rounded arts education. Build a unique creative skillset by exploring multiple artistic mediums, including painting, drawing, ceramics, photography and printmaking. Develop your artistic practice by working in our purpose built facilities, including painting and drawing studios, photography dark rooms, ceramics and printmaking workshops, and digital editing suites. Each year is based around core practical subjects that build your experience in studio environments and help you explore the conceptual frameworks of contemporary art.

Structure

  • To be awarded the Bachelor of Creative Arts, you must complete 360 credit points consisting of:
  • 180 credit points of core subjects, and
  • The remaining 180cp could comprise of one of the following combinations:
  • One optional major of 120 credit points and a minor or elective subjects of 60 credit points, or
  • A minor of 60 credit points and electives of 120 credit points, or
  • 180 credit points of electives

Standard entry requirements

  • Recent secondary education - VTAC prerequisite: Year 12 English prerequisite (20) - Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.
  • Recent secondary education - UAC prerequisite: Year 12 subject prerequisite - One of English Standard, English Advanced (Band 2), English as an Additional Language or Dialect (Band 3).
  • Non Year 12 - Vocational Education & Training: VET prerequisites - Course specific requirements - Subject proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.
  • Non Year 12 - Higher Education study: HE prerequisites - Course specific requirements - Subject proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.
  • International: IELTS - (6.0 < 6.0) (UG standard/minimum) - 6.0 IELTS (Academic) with no individual band less than 6.0.
