Carefully designed to give you a comprehensive understanding of food and nutrition science, you'll explore biosciences and the relationship between food, disease and society, as well as the importance of nutritional requirements. You'll get hands-on experience in commercial kitchens and modern science labs, and you'll have the opportunity to explore an area you're passionate about, including sports nutrition, food science and gastronomy, and nutrigenomics.

Structure

To qualify for the award of Bachelor of Nutrition Science, students must complete 360 credit points in total consisting of: 315 core credit points 45 elective credit points

Standard entry requirements

  • VCE Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL
  • And a study score of at least 25 in two of Biology, Chemistry, any Mathematics, Physical Education or Physics. International students must meet the academic and English language requirements of this course. NB: Meeting minimum prerequisites does not guarantee an offer of a place. Entry into all La Trobe courses is based on competitive selection and there may be limited places available.

Recognition

Graduates of the Bachelor of Nutrition Science may be eligible to apply for registration with the Nutrition Society of Australia as an Associate Nutritionist. Professional registration may be subject to additional or ongoing requirements beyond completion of the degree. Please contact the relevant professional body for details.
