This contemporary four-year Bachelor of Early Childhood Teaching prepares students to teach children from birth to 12 years. Graduates will be qualified early childhood and primary teachers, eligible to apply for Victorian Institute of Teaching registration and able to seek employment as primary school teachers (Foundation to Year 6), and early childhood teachers within licensed early childhood settings, including Kindergartens (Birth to 4 years old), in Victoria. Students learn through a combination of on-campus theory and well supported practicum experiences. Students attend practicum within every semester of the course and across a range of early childhood education areas including pre-schools/kindergartens and primary schools. All Bachelor of Early Childhood Teaching academic staffs have extensive industry experience in early childhood and primary settings, as well as higher education teaching experience.
Structure
This course consists of 40 core subjects, comprising 32 theory subjects and 8 practicum subjects (practical placements) that provide 141 days of supervised placement in early childhood education and care settings, and primary schools.

Standard entry requirements
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

This course has Victorian Institute of Teaching accreditation.
Study pathways
The Bachelor of Early Childhood Teaching can be used to apply for entry to relevant Masters and other post-graduate qualifications.
