The Master of Strength and Conditioning enables you to gain the knowledge, skills and practical experience needed to work as a strength and conditioning coach in a high performance setting. This program is designed to help graduates acquire the necessary accreditation required to work with athletes who strive for optimum sports performance. Through tutorials and practical sessions, you will learn how to design and coach evidence-based programs for a range of team and individual sport applications. You will learn to develop and monitor training programs to meet the demands of the athlete across a range of contexts. This Masters program will equip you to conduct tests of determinant physical qualities such as strength, power, speed, agility and endurance. Other areas covered in the Master of Strength and Conditioning include recovery, nutrition, injury prevention and rehabilitation. In addition, you will gain an understanding of the research process and have the opportunity to conduct applied research in the field. You will also undertake practical placements in the sports industry to gain experience working with coaches and athletes.

Standard entry requirements

A bachelor degree (or higher) in either exercise science, sport science, human movement, physical education or physiotherapy and at least one course in human anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, motor learning/skill acquisition, psychology, and exercise prescription.International Students: Academic IELTS with an Overall score of 7.0/6.5.

This program is designed to gain accreditation with the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA) and Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA), and also provides a stream that allows graduates to apply for PhD study.
