This Masters by Research program sees candidates working with a Principal Supervisor, appointed by the Research Higher Degrees Sub Committee, with the approval of the School. A minimum of 1.5 years and a maximum of 2 years (full-time equivalent), this degree is awarded on the basis of: a studio component which is the practical, discipline specific investigation that is examined by an exhibition or performance; a practical studio investigation supported by an exegesis of no less than 10,000 words, which explains, elaborates or illuminates the practical studio component and provides the critical and theoretical context.

Structure

Students are allocated principal and associate supervisors who guide, advise, consult and provide feedback on the candidate's research progress. These supervisors, in conjunction with the candidate, will develop and expand the original proposal and decide upon an appropriate meetings schedule for discussion and feedback to occur throughout the duration of the candidature.
