This course provides students with advanced training in either clinical or counselling psychology, through a combination of coursework, practical placements and research. There are two majors available: clinical psychology and counselling psychology. The clinical psychology major provides students with the knowledge, skills and experience needed to practise as a clinical psychologist, and focuses on understanding and applying contemporary evidence based practice in the assessment, treatment and prevention of mental health problems. The counselling psychology major prepares graduates in assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based psychotherapy for individuals, couples, families, children and groups. Counselling psychologists work with a wide range of mental health disorders and psychological difficulties.
