- 4-year BEd or equivalent, 1 year teaching experience
- Or bachelor degree, GDip in Education or Grad Cert in a field of Education or similar, and professional experience
Graduates may progress to doctoral studies.

Applicants who do not meet the general entry requirements but who have other qualifications and/or professional experience which would provide a sound basis for admission may be considered for special entry to the course. Candidates without the necessary academic background in the area of study in which they intend to research may be required to undertake specific units of study as a prerequisite for admission.
