I was very interested in economics during secondary school, so decided to pursue further study in business when I left school. Although my family is based in Sweden, I felt getting an education overseas would help me get a job in the international market by the time I graduated.

Australia is a top holiday destination in Sweden because of the culture and climate, so it was my first choice for overseas study. My agency in Sweden recommended William Angliss Institute because of its location and the courses on offer.

In the short time I have been at the Institute in Melbourne I have met a lot of friendly people, experienced some of the culture which is very different to Sweden, and also tasted the different food. I found it really easy to organise the necessary visas, then find accommodation when I arrived which has helped me to settle in quickly.

The challenge has been adjusting my study habits from school level learning, to tertiary level training which uses different assessment methods like long essays and assignments.

The good thing about the vocational training which is offered at William Angliss Institute is that you get practical training not just theory. Anyone can read a book to learn new information, but applying what you’ve learnt to a real situation is different and I think the training here will help me to do that.

On graduation I want to return to Sweden and continue my studies in the spa industry so that eventually I have the skills to manage a spa business.
