With a proud history dating back 1916, Victoria University remains the second largest TAFE provider in Victoria with more than 27,000 students. Study areas include:
PathwaysVictoria University is one of only five multi-sector universities in Australia, allowing pathways from TAFE to higher education. Our pathways database provides students with guidelines on the amount of credit students can receive from their previous studies in Australia and overseas. Credit is given through credit transfer or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and pathways. Central location

In 2008, the Acting Prime Minister, the Hon. Julia Gillard MP, launched the best equipped fabrication workshop in Australia. Students will learn the latest techniques in manufacturing and engineering using From 2009, the university will also oversee the running of Victoria’s only hospitality training academy at the hotel Sofitel Melbourne on Collins. Students are placed in on the job ‘work rotations’ within different departments of the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins on a weekday basis at the completion of each unit of theory. Industry-specific learning provides you with practical, real-world experience that builds your skills in a simulated, dynamic client environment using professional procedures and practices. Award winning coursesA multiple winner of The Australian Tourism Awards for Training Education, VU also provides real life experience to students as they train for their careers in hospitality and tourism. Our fully licensed training restaurant facility has been purpose-built to offer sophisticated training environments with the latest in technologies and equipment. Victoria University multimedia students have been recognised in the prestigious Australian Teachers of Media (ATOM) and Australian Interactive Media Industry Association (AIMIA) awards every year since 1999. Our students were finalists in the 2008 ATOM awards which celebrate the very best of Australian and New Zealand production and recognise excellence in film, television, animation and multimedia. An industry leader, VU is the largest provider of hairdressing and beauty therapy training courses in Australia. The Institute for Trade Skills Excellence gave VU’s hairdressing program Three Gold Stars—the national body’s highest award. Our students consistently win industry awards and in May 2008, five VU students received top honours at the annual Hairdressing and Beauty Industry Association (HBIA) awards. |
