The English Language Centre at the University of Tasmania has an international reputation for providing excellent quality English language programs to students from other countries. The centre has programs on both University campuses – Hobart and Launceston – with a variety of
classes for adult students. Our teachers are experienced and highly qualified. Most have taught or studied in other countries and have great understanding of the challenges of living and studying in another country and culture.

The English Language Centre is located in attractive surroundings on campuses at Hobart and Launceston. The Hobart campus is 15 minutes walk from the centre of the city of Hobart and in Launceston a shopping centre is nearby. Students at the English Language Centre have use of all facilities of the University – cafeteria, a restaurant, sports centre, computer laboratories, libraries, travel and medical centres, and a full range of social clubs and activities.

• Academic English (language and skills for study at University and TAFE)

• IELTS full-time test preparation courses

• Direct Entry Academic Program (DEAP) - For students who have met the academic requirements for entrance to the University of Tasmania and intend studying for their undergraduate degree or coursework Masters degree at this University.

• 15 week program for IELTS 5.5 with 5 in Reading and Writing

• 10 week program for IELTS 5.5 with 5.5 in Reading and 6 in Writing.

• Enter directly to your Bachelor or Masters Degree when you complete this program successfully. Masters available include:

  o Master of International Business
  o Master of Information Systems
  o Master of Information Technology
  o Master of Professional Accounting
