University of New South Wales (UNSW) - Study Abroad

The University of New South Wales (UNSW) is Australia’s foremost international university with one of the largest on-campus enrolments of international students in the world. It maintains strong links with its international graduate community and has over 200 sister partnerships around the world. Of the 40,000 plus students studying at UNSW, more than 9,000 come from over 130 countries, creating a dynamic and vibrant international community on campus.

UNSW is a comprehensive teaching and research university and a foundation member of the prestigious Group of Eight, comprising Australia’s leading eight research universities. The University offers more than 450 academic programs across the Faculties of:

UNSW Study Abroad provides single semester and full year credit programs at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. Students can enrol in over 60 academic disciplines in fully integrated UNSW classes. The UNSW Study Abroad program was established in 1989 and is the oldest and most established study abroad program in Australia.

Location

Located in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, the UNSW main campus, built on 38 hectares, has a vibrant educational and communal environment. It is a 20-minute bus ride from the city centre and 15 minutes walk from Coogee Beach.

Guaranteed accommodation

The Study Abroad Program provides a wide choice of on/off-campus accommodation. Off campus housing, both houses and apartments are furnished and within walking distance of the campus, shopping and the beach. On campus accommodation can be provided in one of the eight UNSW residential colleges.

Program options

  • A pre-session credit program in Marine Science at the UNSW Teaching and Learning Centre on Lady Elliot Island on the Great Barrier Reef

  • Academic internships for course credit in a variety of disciplines

  • A range of short courses offered in the northern hemisphere summer

  • Wide choice of courses in all faculties at UNSW (limited in Law, Medicine and NIDA)

UNSW Study Abroad offers a wide range of student services from enquiry to day of departure and beyond with alumni activities. Some services provided are:

  • Personal enrolment and academic advice

  • Cultural and Social Activities program during the semester
