Why did you choose to study in Australia? As my sister, Rita, was in the Foundation Year program the year before, my decision to come to UNSW Foundation Year in Sydney was an easy one. I had no trouble settling in as I flatted with my sister in Kensington .
What are the best things about your course? I found Foundation a very comfortable place to study, had a good group of friends who were very supportive and have very good memories.
I feel that studying on campus was a definite advantage as you get to know the University and the environment. I believe that Foundation students have the edge compared with other international students coming directly into first-year university, as such students spend a lot of their time during first year adjusting and making friends whereas Foundation students move on into first year undergraduate studies supported by a core group of friends.
Current and future plans? I am currently working in a large pharmaceutical company as a Business Analyst. I do have plans to study for a Master’s degree in Commerce/Finance field.
Have you been involved in other activities? I admit I was a keen student but I did participate in some other activities. I joined the Karate Club and have a purple belt but ran out of time so I haven’t pursued this further. I was also a committee member in the Bioinformatics Society.’
What advice do you have for other students? Enoch said he and his sister are very different and they thought it important to stress that Foundation Year could accommodate both types of people, those who were serious students like Enoch and those who wished to study but at the same time participate in other activities and ‘play’, like Rita.
