University of Melbourne

The campus is a unique blend of traditional and contemporary architecture and culture providing a particular life and ambience of its own. As well as the exceptional lecture theatres, classrooms and libraries, it offers you a range of galleries, theatre and entertainment venues, bookshops, retail stores, cafes and restaurants. The Student Union Building is the heart of the campus and is home to more than 120 clubs and societies which provide an excellent way of meeting and mixing with a variety of people. There are also sporting facilities which include an indoor swimming pool, gymnasiums, aerobics and yoga rooms, running tracks, courts and fields. The University also has a rowing boatshed on the Yarra River and a ski lodge in the mountains.

Study Abroad students are given priority for housing which is usually only a short walk from the campus. As well as a general orientation for international students there is a special Melbourne Welcome program especially for Study Abroad students which includes field trips around Melbourne and social evenings. A number of staff are dedicated to supporting Study Abroad students in all aspects of their life while at Melbourne and there are many other support services available including academic, counselling, health, disability and chaplaincy.

The intellectual, cultural and social aspects of the University are further enhanced for our international students by living in the heart of the city. The Economist Intelligence Unit (London) has consistently ranked Melbourne as one of the world’s most liveable cities, celebrating diversity and multiculturalism, and welcoming newcomers to a safe environment, clean air, numerous public parks and gardens, and many major cultural and sporting events throughout the year.

We invite you to come to the University of Melbourne for a semester or two and take home with you a lifetime of memories and heightened knowledge of the world.
