1999 - graduated with a Master in Business Administration from the University of Canberra
“Studying at UC provided me with a world view. I always maintain that the Rahul that departed from India and the Rahul that returned were two completely different individuals. Studying with Australian students and with students from different parts of the world added a lot of depth to the perspectives gained during the course. ‘Asia’ was in focus in the course and what I would learn was so much closer to the realities in developed India.”
What made you decide to study at the University of Canberra?
I had visited Australia for a holiday prior to applying to UC. The country, the people and the culture convinced me that I would be comfortable spending a few years down under. The flexibility offered by the University of Canberra in terms of a wide selection of extremely relevant electives was the most important factor that led to my selection of UC for my MBA. Canberra also strongly appealed to me as a place where I could live comfortably for two years.
Any elements of your education at UC that stood out / contributed to you getting where you are?
I undertook two units that I shall always draw upon - ‘Organisational Culture’ and ‘Managing Individual and Organisational Change’. I cannot count the number of times I have drawn on these subjects, which are extremely relevant in the dynamic business environment that India is witnessing today. I shall always remember the pearls of wisdom received at UC.
What did you do after you graduated?
I joined Aries Agro Ltd as a director after returning to India. My responsibilities at the time centred around the functions of marketing and business development.
What are you doing now?
I continue to work at Aries Agro Ltd, India’s largest and most respected manufacturer and marketer of speciality plant nutrition solutions. My role as executive director involves overseeing marketing, sales promotion, marketing finance, strategy, business development, public relations and corporate communications.
