There are so many reasons why I chose to study at the University of Ballarat (UB). It has an excellent reputation, supportive and highly qualified staff, a sound placement history and plenty of on-campus work opportunities such as IBM, Ballarat Technology Park, etc.

The idea of moving to Australia for my studies was a little overwhelming, but it was the best decision I’ve made. I was worried about getting casual work whilst I was studying, as I did have a family to support, but I need not have worried. There was tons of work available, you just need to put in the effort and go out and find it. UB also has such a good relationship with IBM in Ballarat that I was fortunate enough to get a casual position working with them that rostered around my uni timetable, despite my lack of work experience in this industry. This was a big step in my career as it taught me valuable team building and problem solving skills. I worked with IBM right throughout my studies, and then won the position of Business Analyst with McCAIN Foods Aust just one month after finishing my course.

One thing I like most about the Australian studies is the fact that it is designed to turn students into independent thinkers. UB has the best infrastructure for students, the staff are friendly and helpful, the students have ready access to state-of-the-art IT labs, there is additional free learning support available if you are struggling with a particular subject and there are also fantastic transition programs, to help you settle in quickly.

I am very thankful to UB staff for helping me achieve what I intended for my career.
