University of Ballarat - MBA

University of Ballarat

University of Ballarat: Four Awards to choose from!

Master of Business Administration

Uni Ballarat Graduate
The MBA is the international standard for graduate business qualifications. The University of Ballarat MBA builds on the breadth of the traditional MBA by allowing students to either specialize in a discipline area (such as Marketing, Human Resources Management or Financial Management, etc. depending on location) or to continue with a broad-based generalist qualification.

The MBA is awarded to students who successfully complete 12 units, 7 of which are core units. It has a successful history of acceptance in industry and for significant career progression for graduates. The program has international standing too and is also readily accepted in a number of overseas countries. For example we also deliver our MBA in Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen.

Master of Business Administration (International Management) – MBA(IM)
You can enhance your Permanent Residency application by completing this specialist Two Year MBA program.. The MBA(IM) builds on the existing 12 unit MBA with the addition of 4 specialist units in International Business and Management. Students who hold a recognized overseas accounting qualification can also apply for Australian CPA accreditation if they study at the Ballarat-Mt Helen campus and by include appropriate accounting units as electives as part of this program

Both MBA programs have been designed to allow students to enter and exit the degree at various points. Students who already possess a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma may enter either MBA programs and receive substantial credits. Students may also exit the program at one of the four exit points and receive a University award such as Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in Management.

Table of requirement information

Master of Professional Accounting (MPA)

The Master of Professional Accounting (MPA) program is designed for students who have a first degree in a non-accounting area, and who now wish to pursue a professional career in Accounting. The foundation degree must be recognized by NOOSR as equivalent to an Australian degree

University of Ballarat

The MPA course comprises three semesters of full-time study and provides a comprehensive sequence of study in accounting, as well as introducing students to related subject areas such as business law, financial management, economics and quantitative methods for business. At our Ballarat-Mt Helen campus the program has Australian CPA accreditation and at other delivery locations in Australia it has NIA accreditation

Exit points after one semester of full-time study (Graduate Certificate of Commerce) or two semesters of full-time study (Graduate Diploma of Commerce) are available.

Master of Commerce (MCom)

A two year Master of Commerce (Professional Accounting) is also offered for those students wishing to obtain an accredited Accounting qualification with some additional general business and management content. Essentially the MCom builds on the MPA with the addition of 4 elective units taken from the pool of MBA graduate units. This program enables graduates to apply for membership of a recognized accounting body for the MPA component (Australian CPA or NIA depending on location) PLUS enhance their Permanent Residency application by completing a two year course.
