University of Ballarat

The University of Ballarat (UB) was founded in 1870, making it the third oldest teaching institution in Australia. With strong linkages to industry and for its applied and practical courses, UB is recognised worldwide as a leading institution for innovation and enterprise, and for preparing its graduates for successful careers. Past graduates rate UB highly with a 5 star rating for ‘Educational Experience’ and a 4 star rating for ‘Getting a Job’ and for ‘Starting Salary’ – these are the results that matter most to international students. UB is an Australian Federal Government funded public university and a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.
Courses
UB is a dual sector institution offering TAFE (Polytechnic) and Higher Education courses. Students can undertake Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses at TAFE, and Degrees, Masters and Doctorate research at the Higher Education or university level. UB offers an extensive variety of study choices, which include English Language (EAP).

International Student Support
Free services are offered to all international students throughout their stay at UB. These include an airport pick-up service, welcome orientation, accommodation assistance, social activities, academic and English language support.
Accommodation

A range of accommodation options are available, these include; on-campus residence, off-campus university housing and private rental (houses and apartments). The University Accommodation Services provide assistance with housing arrangements.
Facilities
The universities facilities are excellent and include; a modern and well-equipped library, numerous computing facilities – available 24hours – shops and cafes, child-care centre, health, counselling and careers centres, heated swimming pool, sports centres, gym, tennis courts, clubs and societies office and a prayer room.
Location
International students can study at the three campuses located in the regional city of Ballarat. Located just one hour and west of Melbourne (Australia’s second largest city), Ballarat is a modern, attractive city of about 90,000 people. International students can benefit from living in Ballarat, as it is a clean, safe city with superb health and recreation facilities. It has a lower cost of living to larger urban cities, has a more relaxed lifestyle and the population welcomes international visitors.
