University of Adelaide

Established in 1874, the University of Adelaide is Australia’s third-oldest university. Ranked among the world’s top 100 universities by the Times Higher Education Supplement in 2004 and 2005, it is associated with five Nobel Prize Laureates and has produced nearly 100 Rhodes Scholars.

Student Life
Adelaide is a friendly and safe city with a population of one million, who enjoy a relaxed lifestyle with a cost of living significantly lower than the east coast cities of Australia. The University’s popularity among international students has grown rapidly in recent years. They enjoy a vibrant social life on campus, with facilities including cafeterias with international food, student clubs and sporting and gym facilities. Other student needs are met with services in health, counselling, finance, education and welfare, childcare, language and study skills.
The location of the main North Terrace campus in the central business district allows students to enjoy the café strip of Rundle Street, the city parkland, the cultural boulevard of North Terrace with the State Library, the State Museum and State Parliament, and the Rundle Mall shopping district.
Academic Programs offered
The University’s academic programs are widely recognised internationally, and its reputation is well established in the areas of Biotechnology & Molecular Biology, Health Sciences, Engineering, Information Technology & Telecommunications, Environment & Natural Resource Management, and Social Sciences.

There are also university preparation and pathway programs including: Foundation Studies, Degree Transfer, and Pre-Enrolment English Program.
Accommodation
The University offers modern accommodation options including the new University of Adelaide Village, and CITI Townhouses. Additionally, there are five residential colleges 10 minutes walk from the North Terrace campus. Full board, room only, share house, hostel and private rental accommodation are also available throughout Adelaide. South Australia offers international students a concession card for public transport.
Scholarships
The University offers scholarships for academically-outstanding international students. In addition, Australian Government funded EIPRS scholarships are available.
