With its World Headquarters in Byron Bay, Australia, SAE Institute is the world’s first and largest network of audio and media education and training centers. Affiliated with Middlesex University (England), And Southern Institute of Technology (New Zealand), the Institute operates over 49 campuses in 22 countries on four continents.

The Sydney campus has been operational since 1976 – where it all started! Since then, it has moved and expanded several times, to accommodate Sydney’s thriving multicultural student base.

Courses

SAE Sydney offers a range of Certificate and Diploma programs in audio technology, recording arts, and digital film making.

Facilities

SAE Sydney comprises of 11 professional audio studios with 5 recording spaces. These are all fitted with a range of the latest digital and analog equipment, including AMS-Neve’s flagship 88D Digital console, a 32 Channel Digidesign Icon, a vintage analogue studio with 2” 24 track Otari MTR 90 II and a 32 channel Sony MXP 3000. Networked Protools HD systems are used throughout these facilities.

Digital Film Making students have access to a range of professional cameras (including HD) and equipment (lighting, dolly, crane, glidecam, etc.) as well as a blue screen studio. They are taught the practical, technological and creative skills required to using a variety of high quality production tools and editing suites – our G5 powered Final Cut Pro suite boasts a 32” flat screen.

True to SAE’s acclaimed delivery method, students receive individual practical studio time throughout their studies thanks to SAE’s extensive facilities and extended opening hours.

Sydney – A great place to study! Located in the CBD, students have easy access to everything Sydney has to offer in a facility expanding across more than 1800m2. Our campus provides both NSW based and international students with one of the largest entertainment technology training facilities in Australia.

Application procedure

All students must have successfully completed their secondary school studies. Film and Audio students must also be able to demonstrate a portfolio of work or a “show-reel”. Applicants must be 18 years old or within 3 months of turning 18 when they commence study.

Additionally, International students must provide an IELTS result of at least 5.5. Contact us to receive the necessary application forms.

Industry professionals

The entertainment industry is all about contacts. SAE Sydney regularly retains the services of some of the world’s top Industry Professionals as Guest Industry Lecturers. These highly decorated teachers include Producers, Publicists, Cinematographers, Film Makers, Designers and Engineers. Their role is to ensure that our students receive a “real world” education that offers them valuable insights into how the Industry operates. In addition to this, many students have found that the expertise and contacts they gain from the guest lectures enable them to break into the workplace and gain practical experience.

Graduates

On successful completion of any of our programs, graduates are armed with a solid theory base, extensive practical experience, advice and Industry contacts from creative professionals, and a Nationally accredited and globally recognised qualification.
