RMIT University - English Worldwide

Established in 1968, RMIT English Worldwide (REW) is a well respected provider of English language programs in Australia and internationally.

REW is located in the centre of Melbourne, opposite the city campus of RMIT University, and is one of Australia’s premier English language centres. REW custom designs course materials to help students meet the learning outcomes for the level and type of academic program they are intending to study.

Many students choose to study at REW because of the direct entry to RMIT University and TAFE programs. Our English language programs ensure that all students are well prepared to successfully meet the academic demands of all Australian university and TAFE institutions.

Facilities and Services

REW’s commitment to the success of students is demonstrated by the facilities and services provided:

  • Independent Learning Centre (computers, independent study packages, library facilities and video and DVD access)

  • Multimedia laboratories

  • Internet and email access

  • Student lounges and kitchens

  • Orientation programs

  • Conversation groups with local volunteers

  • Social activities (ILC Movie Club and sporting activities)

The dedicated student services team provides information, support and assistance to students so they can make the transition to their new life in Melbourne as quickly and easily as possible. The team advises on matters such as banking, accommodation and every day living, as well as educational matters such as course information, applications and liaison with RMIT University.

RMIT English Worldwide's CARINA program (Cultural, Academic, Recreational and Individual Needs Assistance) is a REW service designed to co-ordinate workshops and activities that address the support and transition needs of REW students, especially as they move from REW language programs to mainstream RMIT programs. This includes giving students information about social opportunities in the local community, as well as providing cultural and educational workshops to enhance their academic experience.

Students at REW also have access to RMIT University's wider services such as the RMIT University library, the University Counselling Service, the RMIT Campus Nurse Service, Disability Services, the Career Development and Employment Service, the Chaplaincy, prayer rooms as well as social and support activities.
