Located in the heart of Melbourne, RMIT College has been established to provide international students with the support and care needed to help them gain the most from their university education before graduating to a career in their chosen profession. Foundation programsFoundation programs offer students an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the Australian lifestyle, teaching styles and assessment, enabling successful academic progress. Class sizes are small and teachers offer individual assistance to all students. Students are encouraged to develop study skills and take responsibility for their own learning, which provides a strong base for future success in diploma and degree programs. Of the students who successfully complete their RMIT Foundation Program, about 90% continue on to higher education at RMIT University. RMIT University’s foundation program is an accredited program that is recognised for entry into diploma, associate degree and degree programs by Australian and international higher education institutions. Students can enter from either Year 11 or 12 and undertake the standard, extended, accelerated or fast-track option (depending on entry requirements being satisfied). RMIT University’s foundation program provides the opportunity for students to specialise within the following five streams:
Diploma of CommerceThe Diploma of Commerce is a one year program that provides students with both a vocational outcome and a clear articulation path to RMIT business degree programs. The program has been developed to equip students with both a range of specific business skills and broader capabilities such as communication, problem solving and self management. Associate degreesThese two year programs provide students with a vocational outcome as well as articulation into the third year of a range of degree programs including: information technology, computer science, games and graphics programming, computing and internet technology, industrial design and many engineering programs such as aerospace, automotive, mechanical, communication, computer systems, electrical, electronic and network engineering.
