Open Universities Australia — Foundation Studies

Open Universities logo

Open Universities Australia (OUA) provides the most convenient way to access credible Australian higher education internationally. Through OUA, you can enjoy the same learning experience and study toward the same qualification as an on-campus student, anytime, anywhere, and without leaving your job or giving up time with your family.

OUA is owned by seven leading Australian universities: Curtin, Griffith, Macquarie, Monash, RMIT, Swinburne and UniSA.

OUA is the largest online education provider in Australia, and over 110,000 students have studied through OUA since its establishment in 1993. Currently OUA offers over 900 units and 60 qualifications in arts, humanities and social sciences, business, education, health, information technology, law and science.

Flexible study

With OUA’s interactive online learning model, all academic materials are designed for distance education; they are accessible online or delivered by post. For most programs there are no scheduled classes in a lecture room, you can study when and where it suits you and never have to miss a lecture again. Without the restrictions with international student visas, you can study as much or as little as you want in each study period. You can complete a whole degree through OUA, or study only a few units to get you started. With four study periods each academic year, you can fast track a degree or schedule study around your work and family commitments.

Open access

There are no entry requirements for most undergraduate programs. OUA offers bridging units in academic literacy and study skills, mathematics and science, IELTS preparation courses, and Vocational Education and Training. Don’t let your education background limit your potential—explore your study options with one of the dedicated OUA student advisers.

Foundation study at OUA

With OUA you can get a taste for studying overseas without having to leave your home country. It can be difficult to study in a foreign education system in another language; moving overseas and starting life in a different culture can add extra strain.

By spending a little extra time preparing yourself for overseas university study with your preferred Australian university, you will perform better if you do decide to study at an Australian campus in the future.

OUA offers a range of ‘smart start’ study units covering areas vital to university learning such as referencing, organisation and time management. Completing these units before starting your degree will give you a head start for a successful academic experience.
