MBA PROGRAM

Outstanding quality

In 2006 the Monash MBA was ranked as the number one MBA in Australia by the Economist Intelligence Unit. In these rankings, Monash was ranked in the top 50 in the world’s full-time MBA programs, and third in the world in the category ‘Personal development and educational experience’. Monash is one of the Group of Eight, Australia’s leading universities, recognised for excellence in research, scholarship and teaching.

Our MBA comprises sixteen semester-length units. Full-time students undertake four units each semester, enabling completion of the program in 20 months. However, it is possible to accelerate progression through the course by attending a summer school and/or winter school.

We also offer double masters degrees with the MBA. These comprise 20 units – ten MBA core units and ten units from the partner degree.

Adding value

The Monash MBA offers a unique combination of:

  • leadership development

  • management development

  • professional development, and

  • personal development.

The core curriculum is designed to provide the essential knowledge necessary to effectively manage an organisation. The elective component provides the opportunity to either broaden the MBA educational experience, or to specialise in an industry or professional area by choosing a professional track.

The MBA is underpinned by a leadership program consisting of three modules

  • personal skills development

  • leadership workshops

  • leadership forums.

The personal skills development module of our leadership program is designed to be a first step in a continuous process of self-development for students in the Monash MBA program. It includes psychometric testing and workshops designed to enhance personal attributes including communication skills, analytical skills and teamwork.
MBA students attend two full-day leadership workshops comprising a range of activities and learning strategies designed to help identify, understand, practise and evaluate selected leadership skills.

The leadership forums provide opportunities for students to gain insight from top business leaders about how they manage their organisations and generally what they have learnt from practical experience.
