The Diploma of Printing and Graphic Arts (Multimedia) provides training for people who intend to pursue a career in the sophisticated visual environment of electronic communication and multimedia and is also useful for industry professionals. It familiarises students with print and digital pre production and post production processes, as well as story telling tools such as graphics, sound, video and animation. Participants will gain skills in typography, 2D/3D design and layout, customer service, preparing digital or print files, image outputting, scheduling basics and a range of current software applications used in the industry.
Multimedia and graphic designers will often work as part of a team to create web sites, CD-ROMs, DVDs or a range marketing materials. Program graduates work in the industry in roles including: Graphic Designers; Fashion Designers; Communication Consultants; Publication Managers; Illustrating Artists; Art Directors; Desktop Publishers; Multimedia Designers; Video Game Designers; Typography and Sign Designers; Animators; and 3G Developers.
IDS is a proud member of the Printing Industries Association of Australia, the advocate and support organisation for the print, packaging and visual communication industry.
Premium Facilities
IDS students have access to dedicated Mac or PC computer labs and production resources utilising the most up to date technology. Resources include: cutting rooms, digital scanning, printing equipment and multimedia technology and the most recent graphic and multimedia software. Occupying a landmark building, the campus is climate controlled, has modern classrooms and facilities, state of the art computers and free broadband internet access.

Strong Industry Links and Industry Placement
The Industry Placement Service (IPS) assists students to find employment in the graphic and prepress industry. The IPS assists with creation and preparation of employment profiles and portfolios, writing cover letters, preparing job applications, developing interview skills and finding employment.

Student Support
Students are provided with a supportive and caring environment, ideal for those with English as a second language. Students receive professional support as they adjust to the new challenges of living and learning in a different culture.
Support services include airport transfers, homestay accommodation and accommodation assistance, guardianship for students under 18 years of age, new student orientation, academic support, language and literacy assistance and personal counselling.
