Holmesglen’s Language Centre is at the forefront of educational excellence. Recognized internationally as a provider of English language training, the Centre offers intensive English language courses accredited by the Australian Government.

Students enjoy small classes and modern facilities under the guidance of highly experienced and well-qualified language teachers. The Institute has modern facilities and an up-to-date, communicative approach to English teaching. Students studying English language programs have access to a modern and well-equipped Flexible Learning Centre. A wide range of software, audio-visual and printed materials is available for practice and study in the Flexible Learning Centre. A specialist teacher is available in the Centre to devise and support individualized language learning programs for students.

General English Language Programs

Beginners to Advanced General English
These programs aim to provide English language skills to students from non-English speaking backgrounds from beginner to advanced levels. They provide practice in listening, speaking, reading and writing as well as help with grammar, pronunciation and negotiation. Intakes every 6 weeks.

The Institute has modern facilities and an up-to-date, communicative approach to English teaching. Students studying English language programs have access to a modern and well-equipped Flexible Learning Centre. A wide range of software, audio-visual and printed materials is available for practice and study in the Flexible Learning Centre. A specialist teacher is available in the Centre to devise and support individualized language learning programs for students.

General English Language Programs

Beginners to Advanced General English
These programs aim to provide English language skills to students from non-English speaking backgrounds from beginner to advanced levels. They provide practice in listening, speaking, reading and writing as well as help with grammar, pronunciation and negotiation. Intakes every 6 weeks.

English for Specific Purposes

Intermediate Business English
A specialist program for students who want to improve their general business English skills. Intakes every 6 weeks.

Study Skills
A 4-week Study Skills and English language intensive program is offered to provide students with the academic, language and study skills required for TAFE and university level studies in Australia. This course commences in early January and late May every year.

English for Accountants
This 20 week course is for overseas qualified accountants who have had their qualifications approved by the Overseas Qualifications Unit prior to commencing the course. The course focuses on developing language, negotiation, and technical reading and writing skills. This course prepares students for the Australian work environment in professional and other business fields. It also includes practical local experience in the Australian workplace.

Holmesglen Institute
English for Engineers

This 20-week course is for overseas-trained engineers. The course focuses on developing students’ technical English, communication, computer and job seeking skills. It also provides students with knowledge of practices that exist in the professions that have an engineering focus in the Australian work environment. The course includes 4-6 weeks of practical workplace placement. Course commences in January and July each year.

English for Further Study / Academic English
This 20-week course aims to provide students of non-English speaking backgrounds with the advanced language, cross-cultural communication and study skills needed to undertake further education. They also aim at developing a cultural understanding necessary for successful participation in the Australian post-secondary education system. Course commences in January and July each year.

English for Health Professionals
This 20-week course focuses on developing the English Language skills required to communicate in the health care work environment. This course is for overseas-trained health professionals including doctors, nurses, dentists, veterinary scientists, physiotherapists, pharmacists and other health professionals. The course specifically prepares students for the Occupational English Test (OET) exam. Course commences in January and July each year.

English for IT
This 20-week course is for overseas-trained IT specialists. The course focuses on developing students’ technical English, communication and job seeking skills. It also provides students with knowledge of practices that exist in the professions that have an IT focus in the Australian work environment. The course includes 4-6 weeks of practical workplace placement. Course commences in January and July each year.

English for Teachers
This 20 week course is for overseas qualified and experienced Primary and Secondary Teachers who are eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching. The course focuses on cross-cultural awareness and communication, current pedagogical issues, the Australian Education System and Language skills Development. The course includes a 5 week practical placement component which will facilitate transition to employment in an Australian education institution.

Tuition Fees in 2008

A$260 per week.
