Eynesbury College
Eynesbury College is located in the heart of Adelaide in a modern, five storey multifunction complex. Founded in 1989, Eynesbury College was the first combined Senior High School (Years 10, 11 and 12) and English language (ELICOS) provider in South Australia, offering programs to Australian and international students leading to the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) – a nationally and internationally recognised qualification for entry into university. The Eynesbury College Academy of English offers programs from beginner to advanced levels.
South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE)
The South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) is awarded upon successful completion of Year 11 (Stage I) and Year 12 (Stage II), the final years of secondary schooling in South Australia. SACE is recognised in all states of Australia as an entry qualification for university.
International students who have completed the equivalent of Year 11 (Stage I) in their home country may be given advanced standing for Year 11 and proceed directly into Year 12 (Stage II).
High School Bridging Program
Students seeking enhanced English proficiency and/or improved academic background prior to entry into Year 10 or Year 11 are advised to take an ELICOS High School Bridging Program at Eynesbury College Academy of English.
Within the High School Studies (Bridging Program), students with an IELTS of 4.5 or equivalent may undertake 20 weeks of intensive English learning, which will enable them to achieve six units toward their SACE Stage I.
Year 10 (Pre-SACE)
Subjects offered in the Year 10 program have been selected to prepare students for the demands of SACE Stage I (Year 11) and SACE Stage II (Year 12).
There is a deliberate emphasis on English language development via English as a Second Language (ESL), Mathematics and Science. Using teaching methodologies appropriate to international students at this level, teachers ensure that the English language skills can be applied to all subjects in the curriculum.
Year 11 (SACE Stage I)
The Year 11 program is comprised of two semesters, in which students undertake six subjects per semester. Students select subjects from the following areas of study: Humanities, Arts, Social and Cultural Studies, Mathematics, Science and Technology. English as a Second Language (ESL), Australian Studies and Mathematics are compulsory for international students.
Year 12 (SACE Stage II)
The Year 12 program is comprised of two semesters, in which students undertake five subjects per semester. Students must undertake at least one subject from the Language Rich, Quantitative or Experimental areas of study. The remaining subjects may be selected from any area of study.
