Deakin University English Language Institute

Deakin University English Language Institute (DUELI) offers a range of programs to prepare you for entry into Deakin’s courses. DUELI offers a wide range of excellent programs in outstanding modern state-of-the-art facilities on the Melbourne Campus at Burwood, and Geelong Campus at Waurn Ponds. All DUELI students have access to all the facilities and services of Deakin University. DUELI’s English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program provides a direct entry pathway to Deakin’s undergraduate and postgraduate courses while the Intensive Academic Preparation (IAP) program provides an ideal preparation for success in your university studies. DUELI now offers an EAP pathway to MIBT Diploma and Deakin award courses in Geelong.

DUELI courses

  • English for Academic Purposes (EAP): Provides a direct entry pathway to Deakin’s undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

  • Intensive Academic Preparation (IAP): A program for high-level students with IELTS 6.0 or above (or equivalent).

  • General English: For students with elementary to advanced skills.

  • Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): Advanced listening, reading, writing and speaking skills.

  • IELTS Preparation: For students with IELTS 5.5 who want to succeed in the IELTS exam.

  • Business English: Develops language skills for international business.

  • English for TESOL.

Deakin’s Study Abroad experience

As well as full degree courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, you can also choose to come to Deakin for a trimester or a year as a Study Abroad student and study units for credit at your home institution. Our Study Abroad programs have unique strengths, such as internship components for academic credit, and a three-day orientation trip on the famous Great Ocean Road, where you’ll experience ‘the Aussie bush’ on guided hikes, and learn to surf like a local!
