CQUniversity English Language Centre (ELC) is situated in Rockhampton, on the Tropic of Capricorn—a regional city of some 70,000 people, one hour flight north of Brisbane, or 630km by road.

Rockhampton has an excellent climate with beautiful beaches, islands and the outback in close proximity. The ELC is situated on a spacious campus with excellent facilities and infrastructure. It offers a tranquil, safe location with individual attention. There is a diverse range of nationalities studying at the centre with students from Asia, Latin America, Europe and the Middle East. You also have the opportunity to meet local students.

The ELC is a member of English Australia and UECA and is NEAS Accredited. It is also an IELTS testing centre. Our teachers are accessible, highly qualified, very experienced and give you close personal attention and support.

General English

General English caters for all levels depending on demand, for courses of 1–50 weeks duration. The ELC provides a fun and productive learning environment with courses of a sound theoretical base.

English for Academic Purposes

English for Academic Purposes is designed to prepare you for successful tertiary study in Australia and involves intensive practice of reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills, and the practical skills for further study or the workplace, as well as IELTS preparation if required (entry requirements apply).

English for Academic Purposes (Direct Entry)

This is an intensive course designed for those continuing their studies by enrolling in a formal degree program. It involves continuous assessment throughout the course in academic listening, reading, writing, information literacy and computer skills, and is for those wishing to undertake university study without the need for a final IELTS test (entry requirements apply).

Study Tour programs

These programs are designed to suit individual group requirements, with competitive rates and a duration of 1–8 weeks.

Facilities and services

CQUniversity offers free internet access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, multi-level library with easy access to resources, campus based commercial centre with post office, bookshop, food outlets, hairdresser, travel agency and ATM, and a sports complex with a gym, swimming pool, indoor sports centre and grounds. CQUniversity can arrange free airport pick up in Rockhampton on request. Accommodation options are on-campus residence, homestay or share house.

We also offer student support and organised social activities. CQUniversity is a registered provider of quality education to Australian and international students. Programs are offered in accordance with the Australian Government Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act 2000 (amended 2007).
