With more than 100 social and sport clubs and societies, UTS Union offers international students the chance to mingle with local students as well as try out new activities. The Exchange and Study Abroad Club (ESAC) aims to bring together international students with likeminded Australian students to socialise and explore Sydney. Peer Network and Network Cafe also welcome and support international students by providing them with the opportunity to meet local students with whom they can practise new language skills, share tips on the local culture, answer questions or just hang out. Master of Interactive Multimedia
I planned to study for one semester in Australia on Study Abroad and then go back to Germany and finish my degree for good. A month and a half after my time here at UTS, I was hooked. I did one subject in IT and I found that I absolutely loved it. I basically found my calling. UTS made sure we had the latest software and really good graphics cards, so we could push the envelope. The course wasn't only about IT, there was quite a bit of stuff on philosophy to make us interested, such as human computer interaction and behavioural psychology. My time at UTS was great because the uni gave me a lot of freedom so that I could align my interests with my assignment topics. Considering our class consisted of people from all walks of life (producers, programmers, designers), it was good to be able to express your individuality. In terms of support for international students, I wouldn't know how to do it any better. Orientation at UTS was fantastic, and the Peer networkers (UTS students who help out during Orientation) were awesome. I became a Peer Networker myself. Two-thirds of all the friends I have now after almost nine years at UTS are people from that time.
