The University of New South Wales (UNSW) is Australia's first international university attracting outstanding scholars and students from around the world. About Us
The University was established in 1949 and international students have featured as an essential part of university life for over 60 years. More than 52,000 students study at UNSW, including over 14,000 international students from 120 countries. The UNSW alumni network is loyal and active in maintaining their connections with the University. Many of the 200,000 alumni work throughout the world in prominent positions including the professions, commerce, government and academic life.
As an international university, UNSW is an active member of Universitas 21, an international alliance of 23 leading teaching and research universities in 15 countries. A foundation member of the Group of Eight, a consortium of Australia's leading research universities, UNSW has a growing reputation in a number of key areas including quantum computing, photovoltaics, interactive cinema, science, the arts and law.
UNSW is consistently ranked by Australian high school graduates as their first choice and has achieved one of the highest levels of five-star ratings in the Good Universities Guide for six consecutive years. In the 2010 Good Universities Guide, the University received eight five-star ratings, including in the categories of 'Graduate Starting Salary' and 'Student Success in Gaining Employment'.
UNSW has two campuses: one in Sydney and in Canberra. The UNSW Kensington campus is located in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, approximately 15 minutes from the central business district and Sydney Harbour, and ten minutes from popular east-coast beaches such as the famous Coogee Beach and Bondi Beach.
Student Services
UNSW offers a wide range of student services and facilities including airport reception, orientation programs, academic and language support, modern computing and laboratory facilities, libraries, health and counselling services, religious services, international student associations, bookshops, banks, restaurants, sports facilities and comprehensive conference and convention facilities.
A range of on-campus accommodation is provided at UNSW to suit all requirements, from self catered student apartments to catered residential colleges. The University recommends that international students live on campus to take advantage of opportunities to meet new people and experience university life to the fullest. The UNSW Accommodation Services Office assists students and staff to find accommodation while they are at UNSW.
Courses
More than 700 degree programs are available at UNSW, ranging from undergraduate programs (bachelor degrees at pass and honours level) to postgraduate coursework programs (master degrees, graduate diplomas and graduate certificates) and postgraduate research programs (master by research and doctor of philosophy).

Entry to programs at UNSW is competitive, and based on academic merit. Fees for undergraduate programs in 2011 range from AUD$23,760 to AUD$30,960 per year (except for aviation which is approximately AUD$68,960 and medicine at AUD$48,000 per year). For postgraduate programs, fees range from AUD$12,640 to AUD$32,400 per year (except the AGSM MBA AUD$67,520 for the full 16-month program).
