Student Services
The university's International Office provides a range of welfare and support services, which are designed to provide access to information and assistance that will make your time at the University of Newcastle a rich and academically rewarding experience.
The International Office also offers practical and personal support to students who find themselves in unfamiliar circumstances and who need local advice and help. Services offered to assist students include prearrival support, help with finding on- or off-campus accommodation, financial management advice, visa compliance and employment advice, a free counselling service, access to health services, disability support, chaplaincy, student mentoring, community connections programs, access to childcare facilities, conversational English workshops, numerous sporting programs and Student Hubs that provide a one-stop shop for you to access essential student services at four of our campus locations.
Courses
The University of Newcastle boasts an English Language Centre that offers a wide range of high-quality English courses, study tours, customised English training and IELTS testing services.
International Foundation provides a pathway to undergraduate study for international students who do not have the academic qualifications to gain direct admission into a degree program. Newcastle International College offers four exciting diploma programs in business, engineering, communication and information technology, which lead directly into the second year of some of the most highly regarded degrees at the University of Newcastle.
The University of Newcastle offers a range of undergraduate, postgraduate coursework and research higher degree programs through its five faculties, which include:

Locations
- The university operates on two main campuses. The largest is set on a 140-hectare natural bushland site is at Callaghan, about 12km west of the Newcastle central business district.
- The other campus is located on a picturesque 85-hectare Central Coast site at Ourimbah, halfway between Newcastle and Sydney.
- The university's Conservatorium of Music, Legal Centre and Graduate School of Business are all located in Newcastle's central business district.
