Tasmanian Government Schools

Tasmania is a fantastic place to study - a first class education system combined with a relaxed island lifestyle and a high standard of living.

About Us

Similar in size to South Korea or Ireland, Australia's island state is separated from mainland Australia but is linked by frequent flights and ferries. This is a place of beautiful landscapes, friendly people in small thriving cities, green open spaces, blue sky days and the world's cleanest air.

Funded and administered by the State Government, Tasmania's schools are well managed and stable.

Class sizes are generally small and they do not have large groups of international students. This allows for a closer student-teacher relationship and more opportunities to practice speaking English.

Student Services

Tasmanian schools offer an abundance of learning resources and student services. Personalised assistance is available at each school. International students enrol straight into mainstream classes, with additional English language support as required.

The Tasmanian Government undertakes the welfare arrangements for all international students under 18.

Courses

All schools provide a full range of subjects and extra-curricular activities, including sport, art, music and excursions.

Selected high schools are available for international students enrolling in Years 7 to 10.

Students in Years 11 and 12 study at purpose built senior secondary colleges. Through personalised learning, students are empowered to achieve the best results for gaining entry to a university of their choice.

For those students with outstanding results, some senior secondary colleges offer a program of advanced credit for studies at the University of Tasmania, which shortens the time it takes to get a university degree.
