Southern Cross University is a vibrant university with beautiful campuses at Lismore, Coffs Harbour and the Gold Coast and with additional facilities at nearby Tweed Heads.
About Us
The university's newest campus is located adjacent to Gold Coast Airport and close to North Kirra Beach. The Gold Coast campus foundation building is a well-appointed facility providing a nurturing and supportive study environment in a contemporary setting. It includes the Gold Coast shared services hub, an integrated student centre with computer stations, a lounge area, coffee shop and bookstore. The top floor, with views to Pacific Ocean surfing beaches, is devoted to student library services. Free on-site parking is available to students.
The university operates two teaching facilities in nearby Tweed Heads and a free shuttle bus runs between locations. The Lismore campus occupies 75 hectares of lush, sub-tropical grounds including landscaped gardens and rainforest walkways. The student centre in Goodman Plaza is the heart of student life on campus, featuring a one-stop shop for enquiries with both self-help facilities and highly trained staff available to assist students. The student centre is also a place to relax and catch up and is a venue for student clubs and gatherings. The SCU gym and pool complex features health and fitness facilities including a heated indoor swimming pool.
The Coffs Harbour campus offers a friendly learning environment. The gathering space in the heart of the campus provides an ideal place for student activities or to relax with friends. The recreation hall and fitness centre provides a venue for a variety of sporting activities. The contemporary campus is part of an education precinct, with the university co-located with North Coast TAFE (a technical and further education facility) and a secondary school. The university operates the National Marine Science Centre in Coffs Harbour, which is within walking distance to Charlesworth Bay and adjacent to the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Southern Cross University English Language Centres operate on all campuses to ensure students are able to achieve the required English language level to enter their undergraduate or postgraduate course.

Ricard Canavate Campos, Spain
Bachelor of Clinical Sciences
Ricard Canavate Campos is a 23-year-old international student from Madrid who is studying the Bachelor of Clinical Sciences course majoring in Osteopathic Studies. He is living in Byron Bay, surfing when he can and working at a popular cafe. I knew I wanted to learn English and surfing - surfing seemed like something really magical and I didn't know how to do it. The travel agent in Spain showed me a picture of Byron Bay and I thought, 'wow, that looks amazing', so I ended up in Byron in September 2009. In December 2010, I decided I wanted to study here in Australia. By this stage I was interested in doing physiotherapy or becoming a chiropractor and so I was in Australia preparing for my International English Language Test when my IELTS teacher said a friend of his was doing osteopathy at Southern Cross University and he was really happy with it. Also, the guy I was living with had studied at Lismore and he told me it was a really good campus, with less people than the really big universities and more like a family, so it all sounded really good to me. Suddenly I was going for it and I was accepted. I have found it to be pretty full on getting back into study and working on my English but it feels really good and now I know where I am heading for the next few years.
