Renee Veldman-Tentori, Australia
Foundation Studies
Renee Veldman-Tentori completed her Bachelor of Business, with a double major in Marketing & Tourism Management through OUA. She began studying through OUA in February 2005 while living in The Netherlands. Renee explains, "The sense of achievement I have in completing this is just incredible. Throughout the last five years, study became a part of my life, and I am proud to have balanced excellent results alongside many major changes - getting married, living overseas, moving back to Australia, buying a house, being pregnant and giving birth to two beautiful daughters, starting and building my own business." Renee had harboured an intense love of learning and had researched her study options over the years. However hurdles such as cost and misunderstanding the opportunities and benefits had stopped her taking it up. "Then I discovered that as an Australian Citizen living overseas I could still study using HECS/FEE HELP. This made it affordable to study and OUA made it possible to access the courses I wanted. I love the flexibility of being able to fit study around the rest of my life. It is also important that it is a formal, recognised qualification," she adds. "The fantastic thing with modular study is you can simply start with one unit and see what you think. I would especially recommend study to mums. Though there are certainly days where it can be overwhelming, I found this was only a very small percentage of the time. Overall, the sense of achievement - not to mention the valuable experience, knowledge and qualifications - was a perfect offset to the sometimes difficult days of being a mum and feeling you were not part of the 'real world' as you were home with your children."
