One of Australia's largest and leading providers of vocational training and higher education, NMIT has more than 44,000 domestic and international students studying in Australia, and 23,000 offshore enrolments in educational partnerships across Asia. About Us
Located at the Collingwood campus (three kilometres from the centre of Melbourne), NMIT's ELICOS (English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students) program concentrates on the development of speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, as well as an introduction to Australian society, computer studies and vocational orientation. All students are assessed prior to commencing the course and placed in a class appropriate to their needs.
Student Services
The NMIT International Office and NMIT Student Services provide a range of services to international students including: free airport pick-up (please give seven days of notice), arrival temporary accommodation assistance for a period of up to one week, personal and careers information, counselling, student lounges and orientation sessions to ensure transition to life at NMIT is a smooth one. In addition, all NMIT students are offered services such as childcare, financial planning, job interview techniques, résumé writing, study skills and an extensive social activities program.
Accommodation - Yarra House
Yarra House is located on NMIT's Fairfield campus and offers the latest in on-campus accommodation. With 149 beds available, this refurbished facility opened in March 2010, providing the complete student living experience. Accommodation - homestay
Homestay is available to international students only. A two-month minimum stay is required. Homestay includes the provision of a bedroom, two meals per day and access to shared facilities in a private home. Contact the student housing and support officer for further details. Courses
The NMIT ELICOS program features:
- 25 hours per week (face-to-face English teaching, including computer assisted language learning)
- a graduation ceremony at the end of each semester
